How it Began & My Story
I found yoga when I was in my late teenage years. Mind racing and anxious, but feeling safe within the four corners of the yoga mat, I felt a calling to keep showing up. Yoga became a resource for purposefully moving my body and learning about who I am. It allowed me to NO longer shrink myself. Anytime I felt a calling to come back to myself, I returned to the mat. 15 years later and yoga has turned into so much more than just movement. The breath combined with the movement has allowed me to learn about my emotions within my body, it’s given me the opportunity to take control of my mind and thoughts and really come into my own power.
Off the mat, you can find me in the outdoors or creating - whether that be art through painting, ceramics, rugs, jewelry or writing, Throughout my life my art has always tied back to earth and nature. Art and creating has healed me in a lot of ways, whenever I feel a calling to create, you can usually find me on the ground (which isn’t great for my back, but it’s always where I end up).
I feel it’s my life’s purpose to help guide others in finding everyday practices and toolbox techniques that can help guide you back to yourself. Activating a calm nervous system is simpler than it seems now a days, but it takes effort. This world can seem overwhelming and as a society we are turning to numbing and avoidance. By taking the steps to learn about our emotions, nervous system, mind and body, we can begin to build toolbox’s that are specific to our individual needs. These tools are what we can turn to to feel empowered again to have a balanced life.
My teachings are based on science, ancient wisdom and the elements of nature. I’m a firm believer that a lot of the answers live within us, not outside of us. By working with the breath, emotions and energy within the body, through breathwork, somatic practices and movement, we can look to change our lives.
You can always find me continuing my learning from different teachers, going to different studios and exploring different techniques and reading about these practices.
